Our Team

Clea Rathbun

 Clea holds a Master’s in Bible Studies with emphasis in Counseling from Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary. She is passionate about God's Word, Women's Ministries, and Missions.

She and her husband Dr. Ken Rathbun served as missionaries to Jamaica for several years before moving to Ankeny, Iowa, where Dr. Ken serves as the vice-president for academics at FBBC. Clea stays at home and homeschools their two children, Lucas and Isabel.

 Originally from Brazil, Clea served in various church ministries, worked as a teacher, and as a TV News Reporter in her native country. Currently, she works with women's and youth ministries in her local church.

 Clea is always available for one-on-one Bible Studies and Counseling. If you are interested about the Bible, Bible Studies, coffee, or anything else, don’t hesitate in reaching out.

Kathy Taylor

Kathy Taylor is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys reading, cooking, dabbling in photography, and traveling.

 Kathy has been the VBS director of Altoona Regular Baptist Church for several years, having her whole family involved in this ministry as her special crew.  She and her husband, Tim, lead the College and Career Class, being very much involved in the lives of college students and young adults, by discipling them, encouraging, and making sure they are being fed both physically and spiritually.

 Kathy also serves as a deacon’s wife, assisting the local church in various ways. Kathy met her husband at Faith Baptist Bible College, from where she holds a bachelor’s in Local Church Ministries.

 Kathy and Tim have five children: Ethan, Alexis, Braydon, Logan, and Elliahna. The family enjoys rodeos, taking walks together, and spending time in both Northern Iowa and Michigan with extended family. They also love hanging out with their three pets, two Rex rabbits (Cinnamon and Tucker), and Phil, a Russian Tortoise.

 

Debbie Toomey

Debbie Toomey was saved when she was 9 years old while attending a church conference in Des Moines. She was baptized later at the age of 16. For the past 30 years, Debbie has been teaching and discipling 4 and 5-year-olds in Sunday School (13 in Greenville and 17 in Altoona). She is a proficient Sign language translator and is always ready to use her skill in church. 

Debbie attended FBBC for two years, receiving an associate degree in Office Administration. She also has a two-year training in ASL. 

Debbie met her husband Todd in church. The couple moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where Todd attended and earned a Master’s in Choral Conducting at Bob Jones University. Their three children (David-27, Katie-24, and Jenna-23) were born there.  They moved back to Altoona in 2006 and have been serving in our church ever since. Debbie and Todd have recently become avid "Street Pickle Ball" players. They share their home with their two chihuahuas, Hank and Daisy (who love attention and food), and their two cats, Speck and Patch. Debbie has been a faithful member of Todd’s choirs for 30 years 😊.

Janette Kern

Born and raised in northern Iowa, Janette is the third of twelve children. She was raised by godly parents with a rich spiritual heritage and was saved at the age of 6. She was baptized a year later and has a passion to reach the unsaved, to invest in young ladies and new brides, and for children who have experienced trauma and abuse.

In 2023, Janette married Abraham Kern who has teamed up with her in their pursuit of discipling newlyweds and caring for the elderly and those who come from broken homes. Both Abraham and Janette hold their Associate’s Degrees in World Missions from Faith Baptist Bible College. Janette is a deacon’s wife and loves to find ways to serve alongside her husband through their local church and community. Their desire is to honor God in all things and to follow His leading whether that be at home or abroad.

Janette enjoys loom-weaving rugs, cooking, and spending time with her husband through hiking, biking, hospitality, and spending time with family. The foothills of the Ozarks is their favorite getaway destination, although they would love to broaden their horizons and explore many other places in the future.
